Travel Itinerary
The Hellfire Pass Memorial, Kanchanaburi
Meet & greet you at your hotel around 6:00 to 6:30 am. We’ll take you on a two-day trip to Kanchanaburi.
Upon arrival in Kanchanaburi, we visit a few highlights, including Kanchanaburi’s War Cemetery for the World War II prisoner of wars, the Thailand-Burma Railway Center, and the famous Bridge over the River Khwae (also known as the River Kwai).
Then we continue our journey to a local pier in Sai Yok and switch to a long-tail boat, cruising through a nature rich area with small limestone canyons, before arriving on an eco-friendly floating resort. Upon arrival, we will check-in and enjoy our lunch on this resort: River Kwai Jungle Rafts.
River Kwai Jungle Rafts is a resort floating right on a fast flowing historic river, the Khwae River (or the Kwai River). The resort is well decorated in the concept of Mon traditional housing. During our stay, we’ll enjoy our support to the community of Mon in this area and feel closer to the nature and abandon all the busy things behind.
There is no electricity!: Due to the ecology conservation concept of this resort, the entire floatel does NOT use electricity but rather utilizes traditional kerosene lamps at night maintaining a true eco hideaway in nature.
In the afternoon around 2:45 pm, we will take a long-tail boat out of the resort for a visit to the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum. This museum is dedicated to all who suffered and died during World War II. This part of the railway was the largest rock cutting, and arguably the most difficult section to build. The lack of modern equipment and tools resulted to many deaths of both Asian and forced laborers.
After visiting the Hellfire Pass, we’ll return to the hotel again by a long-tail boat. Our dinner will be available at the resort lobby around 7 pm. It will be followed by a 45-minute presentation of the traditional Mon Dance.
Mon Village, a Thai Minority Village
Enjoy a morning with American-style breakfast amidst the nature’s beauties. Around 8:30 am, we’ll walk together to a nearby Mon Village and their local temple.
Optional Program: Elephant Trekking
The rest of the day is free for you to relax and experience the nature surroundings. We will also be able to enjoy River Jump, a term that we call our activity that you jump into the river. Put a life jacket on and float along the hotel in the Khwae river.
The Death Railway
Our group will check out from the floating resort around 11 am. We will take a long-tail boat, returning to the pier, before switching back to our coach or minibus.
We will travel further to catch a train on the historic rail. Enjoy a ride on the historic train to the Krasae Cave, the famous wooden viaduct on the Death Railway.
After that, we return our coach again and head to Bangkok. Arrive at your hotel in Bangkok around 6 pm.
